CBS will be bringing back an other one o f its veteran dramas for the 2019-20 TV season. Announ ced th is aftern oon, the network has of ficially renewed “NCIS” for its seventeenth season . The news comes after s tar an d exe cutive producer, Mark Harmon, signed a new deal with CBS to reprise h is role on the seri es. “NCIS has been a global juggerna ut for almo st two decades,” said CBS Entertainment President, Kelly Kahl . “Its vi ewers are clearly the most loyal of any d rama on television. They are passionate about the cha racters, the plotlin es and the storyte lling. We ow e a huge debt of gratitude to the gifted prod uction team and the cast, led by the extr aord inary Mark Harm on. We are de lighted that the show will re main a linch pin of the CBS schedule this coming season.” In its curre nt season, “NCIS” has been averaging 12.2 m illion vie wers in the live same day rati ngs, making it TV’s sec ond-most-watched scri pted series, behind only “The Big Bang Theor y.” It has remained a str ong performer for CBS, in bo th it s rati ngs and viewership numbe rs, and was widely c onsidered to be a strong renewal contender leadi ng up to the announceme nt toda y.
