CBS w ill be br inging back another on e of its vet eran dramas for the 2019-20 TV season. An nounced t his afternoon, the network has off icially renewed “NC IS” for its seventeent h season . The news comes a fter star and executive pr oducer, Mark Harmon, s igned a ne w deal with CBS to reprise h is role on the serie s. “NCIS has b een a global juggerna ut for al most two dec ades,” said CBS Enterta inment President, Kelly Kahl. “ Its v iewers are clearl y the most loyal of any drama on televi sion. They a re passionate ab out the characte rs, th e plotlines and the s torytelling . We o we a huge debt of g ratitude to the g ifted produ ction team and the cast, led by the extraordinary Mark Harmon. We are delighted that the show will rem ain a linchpi n of the CBS schedu le this coming season .” In its c urrent season, “NCIS” ha s been averaging 12.2 million viewers in th e live same day ratings , making it TV’s s econd-most -watched sc ripte d ser ies, behind only “The Big Bang Theory.” It has remained a s trong performer f or CBS, i n both its ratings and viewershi p numbers, a nd was widel y con sidered to be a strong renewal contender leading u p to the a nnounceme nt today.
