CBS will be bringing ba ck another one o f its veteran dramas for t he 2019-20 T V season. Announce d this afternoon, the network has officia lly re newed “NCI S” f or its seventeenth season. The news comes after star and exe cutive produce r, Mark Harmon, signe d a new deal with CBS to reprise his r ole on t he series. “NCIS has been a global jugg ernaut for almost two decades ,” said CBS Entertainment President, Ke lly K ahl. “Its view ers are cl early the most loyal of any dra ma on television. They a re passionate about the charac ters, t he plot lines and th e storytelling. W e owe a h uge debt of gratitu de to the gifted production team and the cas t, led b y the ex traordin ary Mark Harmon. We are delighted that the show will remain a linchpin o f the CB S sched ule this coming seaso n.” I n its current se ason, “NCIS” has be en averaging 12.2 milli on viewers in th e live same day ratings, making it TV’s s econd-most-watched scripted series, beh ind on ly “The Big Bang Theory.” It has remained a strong perf ormer for CBS, in both its ratings and view ership n umbers , and was widely consid ered to be a stro ng renewal contend er leading up to the announc ement today.
