CBS will be bringing ba ck another one of its veteran dramas for the 2019-20 T V season . Announced this afternoon, the net work has officia lly renewed “NCIS” for its seventeenth season . The news comes after star and e xecutive producer, Mark H armon, signed a new dea l with CBS t o repri se his role o n the s eries. “NCIS has been a global jugg ernaut for almost two decades,” said CBS Entertainment President, Kelly Kahl. “Its viewers are c learly the most loyal of any dram a on television. They are passionate about the characters, the plotline s and the storytell ing. We owe a h uge debt of gratitu de to the g ifte d production team a nd the cast, led by th e extraord inary Mark Harmon. We are delig hted that the show will remain a li nchpin of th e CBS sch edule thi s coming season .” In its curre nt season, “NCIS” has been averagi ng 12.2 million vie wers in the live same day ratings, mak ing it TV’s s econd-most-watched scripted series, b ehind only “The Big Ban g Theory.” It has remai ned a strong performe r fo r CBS, in both it s rat ings and viewership numbers, and was widely considered to be a strong re newal cont ender leading up to the annou ncement to day.
