CBS will be bringing back anothe r one of it s veteran dramas fo r the 2019-2 0 TV season. Announc ed this afternoon , the network ha s offic ially renewed “NCIS” for its seventeenth sea son. T he news comes after star and e xecutive produce r, Mark Harm on, signed a new deal with CB S to reprise his role on the series. “NCIS ha s been a glob al juggernau t for almost two decades,” said CBS Entertainment Pres ident, Kelly Kahl. “Its v iewers are c learly the most loyal of any drama on television. They are passionate about the chara cters, th e plotlines and the storytellin g. We owe a huge d ebt of gratitude to t he gif ted pr oducti on team and the cast, led by the extraord inary Mark Harmon. We are delighted that the sho w will remain a linchpin of the CBS s chedule this coming sea son.” In its curren t season, “ NCIS” ha s been averaging 12.2 mill ion view ers in the live same day ratin gs, making it T V’s secon d-most-watched scripted series, behind onl y “The Big Bang Theory.” It has rema ined a strong performer for CBS, in both its ratings and viewership numbers, an d was widely considered to be a stro ng renewal conten der lead ing up to the announcement toda y.
