CBS will be bringing back ano ther one of its veteran dramas for the 2019-20 T V season. A nnounced this afternoon, t he network has offi cially renewed “NCIS” for its sevente enth season . The news comes a fter sta r and executiv e pr oducer, Mark Harmon, signed a new deal with CBS to reprise his role on the series. “NCIS has been a global juggernaut fo r almost two decades,” said CBS Entertainment Pr esident, Ke lly Kahl. “ Its viewers are clearly the most loyal of any drama on te levisi on. T hey are passion ate about th e chara cters, the plotlines and the storytelling. We owe a huge debt of gratitude to the gifted prod uction tea m and the cast, led by the extraordinary Mark Harmon. We are deligh ted that the show will re main a linchpin of the CBS schedule this coming season.” In its current seas on, “NCIS” h as been averaging 12.2 million vi ewers in t he live same da y rati ngs, making it TV’s seco nd-most-watched scripted se ries, behi nd only “The Big Bang Theo ry.” It has rema ined a strong perf ormer fo r CBS, in both i ts ra tings and viewership number s, and was w idely considered t o be a s trong r enewal contender lea ding up to t he announcement today. With this renewal, “NCI S” now joins “Young Sheldon,” “Mom,” “Cri mina l Mi nds,” “God Friended Me ,” “Magnum P.I.,” “FBI,” and “The Neighborho od” on a growing l ist scr ipted titles confi rmed to be r eturning on CBS for the 2019-20 s eason.
