The news comes after star and ex ecutive producer, Mark Harmo n, s igned a new deal wi th CBS to reprise his role on the series. “NCIS has been a glob al juggernaut for almost t wo dec ades,” said CBS En tertain ment President, Kel ly Kahl. “Its viewers are clearly the most loyal of any drama on televi sion . Th ey are passio nate abou t the cha racters, the plotlines an d the stor ytelling . We owe a h uge debt of gratitud e to the gift ed production te am and the c ast, led by the ex traordinary Mark Harm on. We are delighted that the show wi ll r emain a li nchpi n of the CBS schedul e this coming se ason. ” In its current season, “NCIS” has b een averagin g 12.2 million v iewers in the live same day ratings, ma king it TV’s second-most -watched scripted s eries, behind only “The Big Bang Theor y.” It has remained a strong pe rformer for CBS, in both i ts ratings and viewership numbers, and was wide ly co nside red to be a strong ren ewal contender leading up to the announcement tod ay.
