The news comes after s tar and executive pro ducer, M ark H armon, signe d a n ew deal wit h CBS t o reprise h is r ole on the series. “NCIS has been a global jugg ernaut for almo st t wo deca des,” said CBS Enter tainment President, Kelly Kahl. “Its vie wers are clearly t he most loyal of any d rama on television . They are passion ate abo ut the charac ters, the plotlin es and the storytelling. We owe a hu ge debt of grat itude to the gifted prod uction t eam and the cast, l ed by t he extraord inary Mark Har mon. We are delighted tha t the show will re main a linchpin of the CBS schedule this com ing season. ” In its current season, “NCI S” ha s been averaging 12.2 million viewe rs in the live same day ratings, m aking it TV’s second- most-watched scripted seri es, behind only “The Big Bang Theory.” It has remain ed a strong performer for CBS, in both its ratings and view ership numbers , and was widely considered to be a strong renewal contender leading up to the announce ment today .
