CBS will be bringing back another one of its ve teran dramas for the 2019-20 T V seaso n. Announced thi s afternoon, the network has of ficially renewed “ NCIS” for its seven teen th s eason. The news com es aft er star and executive producer, Mark Har mon, si gned a new deal with CBS to reprise h is r ole on the series. “ NCIS h as been a global jugg erna ut for almost two decades,” said CBS Entertainmen t President, Kell y Kahl. “Its viewers are clearl y the mos t loyal of any drama on televisio n. They are passiona te about the characters, the plotlines and the storytelling. We owe a huge debt of gratitud e to the gif ted production team and the cast , led by the extraordinary Mark Harmon. We are delighted that th e show will remain a linchpin of the CBS schedule this co ming seas on.” In its current season, “NCIS” has been averagin g 12.2 mill ion viewers in the live same day ratings, making i t TV ’s s econd -most-watched script ed series, b ehind only “ The Big Bang Th eory.” I t has remained a strong performer for CBS, in both its r atin gs and v iewershi p numbers, and was w idely considered to be a s trong renewal cont ender le ading up to the announcement today.
