Series Eighteen start s airi ng on 29 January 2012 with sev en episodes (no t including the India Special),[1] followi ng on from the 2011 Ch ristmas special which aired on 28 December 2011.[2] In t he special they take a route acro ss India, the first of the many c ountries T op Gear pl ans to visit over the course of th e new ser ies, accor ding to Jeremy Clarkson. Sho oting in India began on 2 Oct ober, with the first leg o f the shooting b eginning in suburbs of Mumbai.[3][4] The show was als o seen in Lecce, Italy with a Noble M600, McLar en MP4 -12C and a Lamborghini Aventador.[5] Hammond announced during the Top Gear Live shows in Birmingham, that addi tional recording s for the new series had been done in the USA . The Januar y 2012 e dition of Top Gear Magazine featured a preview of what to expect in series 18.[6 ] It incl uded a piece where Richard Hammond drives a NASCAR safety car for a re al race, later going on to drive an actual NASCA R race ca r. Th e magazi ne also featured a part of so me of the powe r tests to expect, including Jere my Clarkson driving a Merc edes- Benz C63 AM G Black Edition, a Mercedes SLS AMG Roadster and a Ma serati GranT urismo MC Stradale. Hammo nd meanwhile will drive a 20 12 BM W M5 F10, and May will have a Vauxhall Corsa Nürburgring Edition. An other f eature is going to China to test driv e Chinese cars, Italy in 3 super-cars, Lamborghin i Aventador, Noble M600 and a McLaren MP4-12C. Also James M ay is taking a trip to USA to test sports hybrid s upercar Fisker Karma, meet ACDC frontma n Brian Johnson and driv e his 1928 Bentley V anden Pl as LeMans To urer. According to Top Gear Ex ecutive Producer Andy Wilman, Clarkson , Hamm ond and May are going to northe rn Sweden as we ll, where they will race the new F errari FF across a Silverston e Circuit-shaped ic e track.
