In this season, the s how went back to airing one new episode a week, but stayed in the hour-le ngth form at, filling up th e second half-ho ur with episodes from previous seasons and some of the prime-time specials f rom the 1980s. This enti re sea son, al ong with the second half of season 6, is available o n Garfield a nd Frien ds Volume 5 D VD set. Also worth noting is t hat here, a new t heme song was added that was written by J.R. Johnston an d Neil Panton. The theme w as sung by J .R. J ohnston . This theme song was not shown internationally, and as a result, it does not appear on t he DV Ds (although G arfield's quotati ons a re kept inta ct). This new introduction se quence us ed most cli ps from Se asons 5-7 and a few from the first two sea sons, as well as Garfiel d in Paradise and G arfield's Feline Fant asies. The episodes stopped using a few seconds of the theme playing in the episode title cards after season seven's f ourth epi sode; music from th e episodes were used in the title cards until the show ended, even thou gh season six used music from some of their epis odes.
