In this season, t he sho w went back to airing one new episode a week, but stayed in the h our-l ength format, filling up the second half-hour with episodes from previous season s and some of the prime-t ime speci als from th e 1980s. This entire season, al ong wi th the second half of sea son 6, is avai lable on Garfield and Friend s Volume 5 DVD s et. Also worth noting is th at h ere, a n ew theme song was added that was written by J.R. Johnston and Neil Panton. The theme was sung by J .R. Johns ton. This theme song was not shown int ernationally, and as a result, it does not appear on the DV Ds (althou gh Garfield's quotations are kept int act). This n ew intr oduction seq uence used most clips from Se asons 5- 7 an d a few from the firs t two seasons, as well as Garfield in Parad ise and Garfield's F eline Fantasies. The episodes stopp ed using a few seconds of the theme pl aying in the epis ode titl e cards after seaso n seven's fourth episode ; music from the e pisodes were used in the t itle cards until the show ended , even though season si x used musi c from some of their epi sodes.
