In this season, the sho w wen t back to airing one new epi sode a week, but stayed in the hour-length format, filling up t he second half-hour with episodes from previous seasons and some of the prime-time specials fro m the 1980s. Thi s entire season, al ong with the second half of season 6, is available on Garfield and Friends Volu me 5 DVD set. Also worth noting is that here, a new t heme song was added tha t was wri tten by J.R. J ohnston and Neil Panton. The theme w as sung by J.R. Jo hnston. This theme song was not shown internationally, an d as a result, it does not ap pear on the DVDs (although Garfield's quo tations ar e kept inta ct). This new i ntroduction sequence use d mo st clips from Seasons 5-7 and a few from the first two seasons, as well as Garfi eld in Paradise and Garfield's Feline Fantasi es. The ep isodes stopp ed using a few second s of the th eme playing in the episode title cards after sea son seven' s fourth e pisode; musi c from the epi sodes were used in the title c ards until t he show ended , even though seaso n six used music from some of th eir episodes.
