Series 7 o f Doctor Who is expected to air on BBC One t hroughout 20 12 and 2013.[1] The BBC annou nced the news of the new seri es, whi ch will contai n fou rteen episodes, on the official Doctor Who site on 8 Ju ne 2011.[2] Serie s 7 will beg in its run in the Autumn of 2 012 with f ive regular stand- alone episo des and a Christmas Spec ial. It will th en be fo llowed by the remaining eight episodes in 2013. [3] It has b een announced that the Eleventh Doctor, playe d by Matt Smith will return for the fu ll series.[ 4] Karen Gillan, who plays Amy P ond, will r eturn for t he series, as w ill Arthur D arvill as Amy's husband R ory Williams.[5 ][6] This ser ies will see th e departure o f both Amy and Rory after an en counter with the Weeping Angels in epis ode five.
