Serie s 7 of D octor Who is expected to air on BBC One thro ughout 20 12 and 2013.[ 1] The BBC announced th e news of the new series, which wil l contain fourt een episodes , on the o fficial Doctor Who site on 8 June 2011.[2] Seri es 7 will begin its run in the Autumn of 2012 wit h five regu lar stand-alone ep isodes and a Christmas Special. It will then be followed by the remaining e ight epis odes in 2013. [3] It has b een announced tha t the Eleventh Doctor, played by Matt Sm ith will return for the full series.[4] Karen Gillan, who plays Amy Pond, will retu rn for the ser ies, as will Arthur Darvi ll as Amy's husband Rory Willia ms.[5][6] This series wi ll see the departure of b oth Amy and Rory after an encou nter with the Wee ping Angels in episode five.
