CSI NY (Cri me Scene Investigati on New York) is an American polic e proc edural t elevision series that ran on CBS from September 2 2, 2004 to Febru ary 22, 2013, for a total o f nine seasons a nd 197 original episodes. The show follows the investigations of a team of N YPD forensic scie ntists and p olic e off icers identified as Crime Scene Investigators (instead of the actual title of Crime Sc ene Unit Forensic Tec hnicians (CSU)) as they unveil the circums tances behind mysterious and unusual deaths, as well as oth er crimes. The ser ies is an indir ect spin- off from the v eter an series CSI Crime Sc ene In vestigation and a direct spin-off from CSI Miami, during an e pisode in which several of the CSI NY characters made their firs t appearance s.
