CSI NY (Crime Scene Inv estigat ion New York) is an Ameri can police procedural television series that ran on CBS f rom S eptember 22 , 2004 to Fe bruary 22, 2013 , for a total of ni ne seasons and 197 original ep isod es. The show follows the investig ations of a team of NYPD forensic s cient ists and po lice officers identifie d as Crime Scene Investigators (instead of the actual title of Crime Scene Unit Forensic Tech nicians (CSU)) as they un veil th e circumstances behind mysterio us and unusual deaths, as wel l as other crimes. The series i s an indirect sp in-of f from the v eteran ser ies CSI Cr ime Scene Inves tiga tion and a direct spi n-off from C SI Miami, during an episode in wh ich severa l of the CSI NY characters made their first appearances.
