Finally, Edward Fox (Gandhi) is i n talks to play Eastlake's husband Sir Charles a ma n who was not only f ed up with Ruskin an d his radical ideas, but also the main patron of the Royal Academy which hel d sway over what constituted fine art. Richard Laxto n (An Englis hman in New York ) is direct ing the film which begins shooting in Scotland on Oc tober 17th with shoo ting to follow in London and Venice as well. The cast ha s been shu ffled on this project for awhile with Carey Mulligan once attached to the ti tle role a s well, but a copyright in fringement claim held u p the film, which r esulte d in sche duling confli cts for the previo usly attached cast members. Producer Don Rosenfe ld says, It ’a Thompson’s first original script a fter doing seve ral fine adaptatio ns, and it gets t o th e heart of Vi ctorian England.
