Charles De xter Ward's wife enlists the help of a private d etective to find out wh at her h usband is up to in a remote cabin owned by his family f or centuri es. The husband is a chemical engineer| and the smells from h is experiments (and the delivery of what appear to be h uman remai ns at all hours ) are beginnin g to aro use t he attenti on of neighbors and local law enforcement officials. When t he detective a nd wife find a diary of the husband's ancestor from 1771| and reports of gruesome murders in the a rea begin to sur face| they begin to sus pect that so me very unnatural experime nts are being condu cted in the old house.
