This is an unusual film of exceptional v alues--75 minutes long in color, with hardly any spoken dialogs . I saw this Iranian film in Farsi without English subti tles at the Early Iranian cinema retrospe ctive on-goin g International Film Festival of Kerala, Indi a. That I w as w atching a print without subtitles did not ma ke a diff erence as there were v ery few lin es of spoken d ialogs. This is a very acc essible film for a ny audience to enjoy- -its story a nd values are n ot merely Iran ian, it's un iversal. The film is set in rural Iran that had not tasted pe tro-dollar p rosperity. The settin g is on frin ges of de sert land , where water is scarce, rainfall scant y and hardl y any bla de of grass is gr een. Add to it w ind and dust that buf fets and whips man an d animal and you can imagine plight of the peo ple who live on the fringes of s ociety. The film is moving tale of a young teen ager returning to his vi llage with a goat--only to find his family and vi llagers hav e moved on to escape natures vagaries and that one old man remains. He g ives the goat to him and goes in search of his fam ily. “如今到了这气了，白日里还好，晚上外头凉，我 要是在外头睡，吹到风很 容易生病。如今要做的事情多，部落里能真 正干活的男人少 ，我要是病倒了，就会耽误不少的事 情，很有可能这一耽误， 到了冬日 里，部落里就会死人。”
“什么情况，我也是看的出来的。 晚些你去账房领五百两，这个银 子不要拿出来，你自己留着 将来用，也 是个退路。 这柳生呢，实在是没有什么出息聊，但就 是以防万一，将来他 真能考取功名却是 不妥了，所以你还是暂 时先留着吧。”
“先不老大如今还没有官运亨通，指望 老二也是指望的上的。就算将来真的是，老二这样， 也能帮上不少，而且家里两 个官有什么不好的，旁人起来，只会觉得我老林头厉害，能养出这样两个厉害的儿 子来，将来下去 地下见到祖宗们，我都是有交代的。”
“结果她这些年过的什 么日子，大家也都看到了， 你荒唐无比 ，银两乱花，败光了祖产，家里没有东西了，便连爹娘都不要了，想要来我 们家过日 子，我们 家迟早也会被你败光，到时候我们可是和你没有血缘关系的人， 下场可想而知吧？”
