Thoug h Delluc's care er was short-lived, it burst vigorously(7 films in 4 y ears)that it forever left its imprint on fren ch cinema history, and they rightly honoured him by giving the annua l Pr ix De lluc to th e best French film of the year. He was r esponsible f or the creation of influential cinema journals like Le Journal du Ciné-Club and Cinéa, founding numerous film societi es, writing countless articles and c oining the term cineaste. Delluc believed that film s shoul d be set in the natur al without elaborate posturing, a nd characters s hould be portrayed in an intimate way where the past and present, i llusion an d reality can be correlated, all con sidered to be avant-garde at its time. He died only a few weeks after the sh ootin g of The Flood at t he age of 33 .
