Min Ji-suk runs a t icket barw here custo mers can purchase ticke ts for certain ser vicesin the town of S okcho in Gangwon-do. Sh e hir es Miss Yang (Ahn So-young), Miss Hong (Lee Hye-young), and Se-young (Jeon Se-young) th rough the employment a gency. Miss Yang and Miss Ho ng, who are well exper ienced in this type of business, are used to accepting propositions from cust omers. But Se-young, who is d ating a college student name d Min-su, rejects all requests for sex ual favors. When Min-su professes to having problems with his tuition and finances, Se-young rea ssures him that she will procure the necessary funds for h im. When the bar's clientele begins to dwindle because of Se -young, Ji-suk repr iman ds her severely. Se-you ng develops a close relat ionship with a Captain Pak and even allows him to sleep with her. She asks Captain Pak to fin d Min-su employment on a boat, but when Min-su comes t o Sokcho fo r his new job , he se es h ow Se-young has bee n making her livin g. Shocked, he turns his back on the job an d leav es. When he eventually returns to So kcho, he scathi ngly denounces Se-young's m orality and severs their rel ationship. D ecad es ago, Ji-suk h ad stumbled into the bar business in a desperate e ffor t to suppo rt h er h usband, w ho was serv ing ti me in pri son; s he later lef t him volun tarily o ut o f shame and moral degradation. Concerned that Se-young will end up wit h the same fate, Ji-suk asks Min-su to meet with her. She be gs him not to abando n Se-yo ung, bu t he flatly refuses. Ji-suk r eacts by pushing M in-su into the sea, and suffers a mental brea kdown that lands h er in a psych iatric institution.
