A special sideshow torture exhi bit has the power, accordin g to show man Dr. D iablo, to warn people of evil in their fut ures. A s skeptical customer s are shown the greed and viol ence they're hiding, one of them snaps an d kills Diablo. When they run off, we see the murder to be stag ed as part of the s how. One of the custome rs has hung ar ound to see thi s, and want s to ma ke a deal with Diablo, aka the Devil. A very good anthology of tales, writ ten by Robert Bloch and directed by Freddie FRanci s, for Amicus, an i con of this kind of movie. The tales are uneven, sure, but they are all at least go od, till the perfect final on e, the Ma n who collected Poe, with Jack Palance and Pete r Cushing, a great idea, and a marvelous tale to watch. Very good Burgess Meredith as Diabolo th e Great, the host for these ta les. Unfortunately for us all, thi s kin d of mov ies a re a thing from the past and t oday we don't get any more gems like this. A must see
