You Are No t Alo ne (Danish Du er ikk e al ene) (1978) is a Dan ish coming-of-age fil m written by Lasse Nielsen and Bent Petersen , dir ected by Lasse Nie lsen an d Ernst Johansen and prod uced by Steen H erdel. Set in a Danis h al l-boys boardi ng school where one of the boys, Bo (Anders A gensø) develops a special relationship with the headmaster's young son Kim (P eter B jerg). In the beginning of the film the he admaster is trying to get funding for a n ew gym for the school. The boarding school is likely a Christian one, as they hav e scho ol prayer a nd the teachers keep re ferring to good Ch ristian morals. This is a film not just abou t Bo, Kim, and their growing rel ationship, it i s a true coming-of-age story. The filmmakers capture perfectly bud ding se xuality and inter-per sonal relationships , includin g the young women who wo rk in the cafeteria a nasty gang of old er teens. In another plot line, a tr oubled student is expelle d for displaying porno graphic p osters , and some of t he stu dents de cide to protest this by walking-out of classes, the b oy is eventually a llowed to re turn to s chool so that he may graduate. At the year-end graduation c eremony, th e bo ys presen t to t he entire school their families, a short film they have made all by themselv es, based on the c ommand ment Lo ve thy neig hbor.
