In 1965, Bo b Crane, who ha d achieve d some e arlier success as a television supporting acto r, was working as a su ccessful morning radio DJ at KNX Los Angeles. Despite enj oying his work, photography (es pecially o f the female form) an d drumming, Cran e wanted to be a movi e star. So it was with some reluctance that h e acce pted the title starrin g role in a new telev ision sitcom called Hogan's Heroes (1965), a WWII POW comedy.
