A few years before he went on to make a big splash i n th e cannibal sub-gen re, Ruggero Deodato directed this successful rip-off of Roman Polanski's brilliant Kn ife in the Water. Naturally, being an Italian film - there's more of a focus on sex t han the relationship be twee n the central couples, but the claus trophobic atmo sphere and entertaining characters hel p to keep the te nsion bubbling ov er, wh ich ensures that the movie is interesting for the duration. The film doesn't have nearly as mu ch 'b ite' as Cannibal Holocaust and most of th e rest of Ruggero De odato's film ograp hy, but it's ob vious that e ven with this early film ; Deodato is a d irector wi th the potential to make a mark on cinema. The plot i s simpl e in t hat it ju st focuses on two couples. G eorge and Silv ia invite Ire m and Barbara for a weeke nd cruise on thei r yacht . It soon tra nspires that George isn't the most sensitive man to ever liv e, and Silvia doesn't seem to mind him tre ating her badly. The s ituat ion escal ates, and Irem and Barbara join forces with Silvi a for veng eance a gainst Georg e...and three way sex, of course.
