Whil e driving through the desert with his w ife Ca rol Marvin to a military base to send the ele venth rocket to th e orbi t of Earth for helping the expl orat ion of the outer sp ace in the Operation Sk y Ho ok, Dr. Russell A. Mar vin an d Carol see a flying saucer and accidentally records a message in their tape recorder. On ce in the base, Dr. Russell is informed by his father-in-law and ge neral that the ten first s atellites had mysterious ly felt on Earth. Wh en Dr. Rus sell decod es the message, he enco unters the aliens t hat ask him to schedule a meeting with the lea ders of Earth in Washington in 56 days with the intention to invade Earth with out panickin g the p opulation. Dr. Russe ll develops an anti-ma gnetic weapon that becomes that last hope of human race aga inst th e hostile aliens.
