At a fashionable dinne r party in Hong K ong a nava l of ficer is coaxed into revealin g details of a dream in which eight persons take off f rom Bangkok in a Dakota bou nd for Tokyo and cras h in the Japanese mountains. Amongst those listen ing is Air Marsha l Hardie w ho is due to fly to Tokyo the next day. Hardi e initially dismisses the dream because he is scheduled to fly out in a Liberator, but as Hardie arrives at t he ai rport h e discovers that the L iberator has developed mec hanical problems and has been repl aced by a Dakota. When, just b efore the fl ight is due to depart, two soldi ers board the plan e maki ng a complem ent of eight, Hardie fears that the Dream ma y be coming true and he is destin ed to die.
