Biped alism, o r 'two-footed wa lking', is the story of a pain ter w ho grew up in an orp hanage and only years later learns the circum stances of h is father's dis appearance and death. Chil dhood memories bring the main character b ack to the past he buys a hou se in the suburbs t hat used to belong to his fami ly. In the base ment, he finds his father's archives and scien tific research docume nts on the hybridization of human race with related b iological species. Studying the arc hive mat erial, he unexp ectedly finds evidence of efforts to renew the experi ments on the remaining hyb rid popula tion . Th e painter then become s a researcher, a nd consequently a vict im. Th e ba sic idea of his father' s research was to change, control a nd influence the process o f hu man evolutio n - initially con necte d with e ugenic s theories of the period be fore Wor ld War II, and now being placed in a context of modern 'biotechn ological' expectati ons by his former colleagues. Th e main character tries to recre ate and realize his father's heritage, who was fo rced to coo perate with state terror organizations, usi ng the r esults of hi s secret research. In a trag ic manner , this informatio n turns into th e main character's reality, at first forcing him to reapp raise his father's val ues and later drivin g him to m adness
