Waldo an d Irene have been living with Margit for th e four year s th at they have been e ngaged. Margit has planned the wedding and the honeymoo n - in f act, Margit plans everything down to what they w ill have fo r breakfast every day. The only problem is tha t Waldo is a milquetoas t and Irene does not want to be marrie d to a m ilquetoast. So she say s she is in love wi th Charlie, a bohemian artistproducer who lives in a tr aile r behind Spike's Place. When Margit confronts Charlie ab out giving up Irene, Charlie sees that she is the one f or him . To make everyone happy, Charlie will have to help Waldo get a backbone.
